The Sarasota Model Railroad Club

	Do you have an interest in railroading?

Whether you are an experienced modeler, someone looking to learn more about railroading, a researcher looking for historical facts or photographs or better yet, just starting out in the dynamic hobby of model railroading, we are the place for you. If you have an interest at any skill or experience level and want to expand your knowledge or level of skills, consider membership in the Sarasota Model Railroad Club. We are privileged to have an extensive library that comprises most every railroading subject including prototypical railroads and their operation to modeling in any scale.

Located in the Sarasota-Manatee County area on Florida's Gulf Coast, SMRC is dedicated to the preservation and re-creation of railroading through modeling. We offer modeling choices in HO, N, O, O27, G and Scale Live Steam. We maintain both permanent and portable layouts. Our interactive children's layout “C*O*M*E*T”, regularly makes appearances at Kidfest ("Kidzfest") Bradenton in as well as other children and family events in the Tampa Bay area. We have participate at the annual Crosley Mansion Festival of Trees at the Powel Crosley Museum in Bradenton.

The Club meets weekly on Tuesday nights for regular work and periodic operating sessions. The monthly business meeting is held on the second Wednesday of the month at 7pm. O Scale and O-27 work sessions are on Thursday nights. Our library is available for viewing and research on Tuesday evenings. All evening work and operating sessions begin at 7pm. Other Operating Sessions for members only are scheduled to study and replicate prototype railroad operation as closely as possible.

We offer regular seminars and clinics to our members and the public. Many of our members are retired from various railroads throughout the US and have a wealth of experience and knowledge available to those who ask.

We are a sustaining member of the National Model Railroad Association.  We also support the Boy Scouts of America and have a BSA and NMRA certified Railroad Merit Badge counselor available. Several members have earned the distinction of National Model Railroad Association Achievement Program Author which covers printed publications as well as instruction seminars and other forms of education. Our membership includes some who have earned the honor and distinction of Master Model Railroader from the National Model Railroad Association.
